Abstract

This study's objective was to examine the association between emotional intelligence & psychological well-being among BSC nursing students at the chosen medical institutions in Hyderabad (Telangana). This is why the gender-segregated cluster sampling method was used to select 500 BSc Nursing students from five medical institutes (Yashoda Nursing College, MNR Medical College, Kamineni Institute of Nursing, KIMS Nursing Institute, Care Institute of Medical Sciences: 100 members from each Medical Institute) in the 2022-23 academic year. “The emotional intelligence questionnaire Sybrya Shrink (33 questions) & the Goldberg as well as Hillier mental health questionnaire (GHQ, 28 questions) were also administered.” Multiple regressions and the Pearson correlation coefficient were employed for the data analysis. The results demonstrated a substantial association between student emotional intelligence and psychological well-being, with predictive factors explaining around 29% of the criterion variable. “Self-Regulation variable B=0/623 & Self-Control variable B=0/613, two components of emotional intelligence, have a major impact in predicting mental health, with Self-Control Beta= 0/306 playing a larger role. In light of this, it may be said that those with high emotional intelligence have better psychological health.”
